Visitors to the Tool Shed often arrive with lots of questions-- not just about the toys, gear, and lubes we carry, but about all kinds of topics and issues around sex and sexuality!

Though sex and intimate relationships usually play a major role in our lives, most of us experience little formal education about our bodies, sexual pleasure, or relationship models. Because there are so few shame-free spaces in our culture when it comes to talking frankly about sex, it can feel like there is nowhere to go when you've got questions.  This can be particularly challenging when you're going through a life event that impacts your sexuality and you'd like to talk about it. 

Our staff answers lots of inquiries about sex and relationships every day at our store, but sometimes certain questions require a bit more time and focus than we can provide during busy store hours.  And sometimes our customers prefer more privacy than speaking in a crowded store can offer.

In order to meet these needs, the Tool Shed offers a Private Consultation service. Appointments are available with our experienced sexuality educators, each of whom has expertise on a variety of topics around sexual pleasure, sexual wellness, and healthy relationships.

Consultation sessions are designed around your
 specific situation and any questions you may have.

What happens in a Consultation session
Private Consultation sessions are scheduled in a 60-minute meeting format. Sessions can be done in person, or via phone/internet if that is more convenient.

Sessions are focused on talking and education. These are not "hands-on" sessions; there is no physical
 contact between the consultant and the client.

Please bear in mind that while our staff are trained as sexuality educators and have thousands of hours of experience speaking to people from all walks of life about sexual issues, we are not medical providers or licensed therapists. Our Private Consultation service should not be used to replace consultation with or treatment by a medical or mental health professional if and when such treatment is needed.
